TynMahn Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Do I understand correctly? In order to respawn (reactivate) a destroyed group is to use something like MOOSE or MIST (whatever those are)?
Yeti42 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Strictly speaking, to re-activate yes you would have to use MOOSE. You can, however, use the normal mission editor to do something similar: 1, Create your group call it <group1> or something descriptive 2, Copy the first group and call it <group1_1> , check enable late activation 3, carry out step 2 as many times as you need the group to respawn 4, Create a trigger that activates the next group when the previous group is dead Names can be anything, make sure "late activation" is enabled for all groups except the first one. TynMahn Posted October 10, 2019 Author Posted October 10, 2019 I was afraid of that. I guess, if I want to make this work, I'll have to look into this MOOSE or MIST business. Seems kind of odd that it isn't intrinsic to the editor. I mean, it's already a bit of a learning curve just to learn the editor and now I have to look into some third party scripting thing just do a simple task. I already considered your suggestion about "stacking" groups" and, it would, kind of work. However, I was trying to set a random type scenario where different groups would spawn randomly without limit
Hardcard Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 (edited) I mean, it's already a bit of a learning curve just to learn the editor and now I have to look into some third party scripting thing just do a simple task. Welcome to DCS ;) Learning to script may be a pita at first, but it's definitely worth the effort. I found myself in a similar situation last year (ME had all sorts of limitations I simply couldn't accept), so I decided to learn some Lua and MOOSE instead of wasting my time with ME. In hindsight, it was undoubtedly the right decision. MOOSE is easier to learn than MIST, since it's much better documented. Here, check out this post, it contains useful links. Also, here's a Lua tutorial it'll help you learn the basics of Lua. Edited October 11, 2019 by Hardcard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
