I have been wanting a collective for flying helicopters in Digital Combat Simulator for a while, but was hesitant as they all seemed to be exorbitantly priced and I was not confident enough in my DIY skills to build my own.

I settled on a kit from Canadian based company, Pro Flight Trainer. Although costly, it was still significantly cheaper than the other offerings out there from the likes of Komodo and OE-XAM.

Despite a few minor niggles, overall I am very happy with my purchase. It was easy to install on my rig and provides much finer, more intuitive control than the throttle axis I was previously using. It also adds a lot of immersion when flying in VR! I am having a lot of fun using the collective with my favourite DCS helicopter module, the venerable Mi-8 MTV2.
