xvii-Dietrich Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 In Norway, there is a tradition for the airforce to fly a particular formation along the country each December. It is called Julestjerne (= Yule Star). It is also known as julestjerneflyging or Julestjerna. Today (Friday 13-Dec-2019), there were 23 F-16s in the formation that flew over where I work. I've never seen so many at once! :) I managed to get a a photograph (not so good, given the camera in my mobile-telephone). Try doing that, all you DCS F-16 pilots! ;) Also, a bit further up the sund, they dispensed flares, causing quite a cascade of light. it looked very nice. (And the sound of the flyby was rather neat too!) As I mentioned, it is an old tradition. Here is an old video from the 60's: (the formation is about 25 seconds in). As far as I know, it has been done with F-35s, F-86s and F-16s (as per what I saw today). Not sure about other types... maybe the F-5.
