Red Dog Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) Hello Gents, Apologies for the seemingly stupid question. Not sure it's supposed to be posted here or straight in the cockpit section, but feel free to move accordingly. I'm banging my head on a wall on something probably very stupid but this is driving me crazy I'm changing key assignation for the F/A 18 hornet sim (stable DCS 2.5.5) and what I see working in the UI (option/control) does not work in 3D once i'm in the cockpit. The reason I am not going with the default keys is that I have a cockpit and I'd rather not change the programming of the cockpit, but rather keep that exclusive and adapt the keystrokes of the simulators I may use. It sound complicated but somehow unrelated to the issue I face trying to assign keys to DCS, read on: For instance, I assigned "LCTL LALT y" for Arresting Hook Handle - Down and "LCTL LALT t" for Arresting Hook Handle - Up When I test my cockpit hook switch when I'm in the UI option screen, I can see the line jumping correctly to the hook up and hook down line. So in effect, the key change worked and my switch seems configured correctly. When I return to the 3D hornet cockpit, and place the hook switch down: Nothing happens - hook stays up. If I press "LCTL LALT y" with the keyboard, same thing: the hook doesn't go down. That's a major mismatch with what I set earlier in the UI. Obviously, if I click the 3D hook with the mouse, the hook comes down but the idea i!s specifically to avoid using the mouse in the cockpit. With the hook down, if I move my physical cockpit hook switch to it's UP position, the hook comes UP. So hook down, although programmed correctly doesn't work, whereas hook up, programmed in the same manner does work. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Many thanks fo rany help you may provide Edited December 7, 2022 by Red Dog Have a Bandit Day Red Dog [sIGPIC] http://www.ravico.com/ST/perso/Sig_generale.png [/sIGPIC]
Red Dog Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 bump - I still have the issue reported above. another example: Master Caution in my pit is wired as "SHF c" When I program it in the UI (as "LSHF c"), it's recognized when I press my pit master caution button I go into 3D, press my pit master caution button, nothing happens, MC doesn't reset. if I press "LSHF c" on the keyboard, it works and master caution is reset. I don't get it why it works fine in the UI but stop working once I get in 3D, whereas it does work with the keyboard? I initially though it was a matter of L shift and R shift but the keyboard test seems to rule that out. Any idea on the matter would be most helpful as I have a dozen of such problems Many thanks Have a Bandit Day Red Dog [sIGPIC] http://www.ravico.com/ST/perso/Sig_generale.png [/sIGPIC]
Red Dog Posted October 3, 2021 Author Posted October 3, 2021 I am still fighting this issue unfortunately. It may be related to the fact that my keypresses are not programmed with any delay and they are too fast to be recognized in 3D (although they are fine in the UI config screen) Before I change all my programming, Is there a way to set the time DCS works best with key combo? Setting milliseconds or something like that? I don't have much hope it has, but I figured I'd rather feel sorry to ask than discover it after having completely reprogrammed my whole pit Thanks Have a Bandit Day Red Dog [sIGPIC] http://www.ravico.com/ST/perso/Sig_generale.png [/sIGPIC]
rob10 Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Not sure if this will work the same way, but I use AutoHotKey to program a button box type accessory and I have a delay of 50 milliseconds on most (I think 100 on a few). I'd try it on the UFC buttons first (they were where I had the most problems with keypresses not registering), before you do the whole thing. And before I added the delay they were fine in the UI when binding them, but inconsistent at best in game. After adding the delay they work as expected.
Red Dog Posted October 5, 2021 Author Posted October 5, 2021 Thanks Rob, I started thinking I was alone having this issue. I started playing around with the programming and either adding DLY or separating the press and release to attempt to make the buttons recognized in 3D The DCS in the F-16 pit for instance doesn't work with DLY but started working once I better separated the press and release action. Many thanks for your input Have a Bandit Day Red Dog [sIGPIC] http://www.ravico.com/ST/perso/Sig_generale.png [/sIGPIC]
Red Dog Posted December 31, 2021 Author Posted December 31, 2021 (edited) just in case it helps other ppl having such weird issues with keys programming working in Ui but NOT in 3D For instance: Master caution CTL c Programmed like this: Works in DCS UI Does not work in DCS 3D and when programmed like this: Works in DCS UI Works in DCS 3D To DCS dev, it's really confusing to have stuff working in Ui and then not in 3D because usually when you set things up and check you use the UI mostly. It would be great if that confusion could be solved at some point. Many other example of mismatches: Seat ajust up and down canopy motor up and down, etc etc Edited December 7, 2022 by Red Dog 1 Have a Bandit Day Red Dog [sIGPIC] http://www.ravico.com/ST/perso/Sig_generale.png [/sIGPIC]
