I was half way through installing a 23gb update when i had to close it. When i tried to restart it I was prompted to download the update onto a different drive, as there was insufficient space on the drive it was initially installed on. This required the download to be started from scratch. Now I have enough space on the dcs install drive so would like to resume the update where i had left off before selecting to download it to a different drive. is this possible?

Depends if the previously downloaded content is still there, you would just move the _download folders around with the data in there, hopefully it picks it up, but I never tried that.

The DCS updater usually did things like this the last time I checked:

DOWNLOAD

UNPACK

INSTALL: COPY UNPACKED TO INSTALL DIR AND OVERWRITE

So basically you needed a lot more space, I asked why it doesn't just unpack direcly to the install DIR but the dev said it should be like that in one occasion or in another ocassion that it is "hardlinked" but I didn't understand at the time nor do it still, I know what hardlinking is and have used it extensively but not sure in that kind patch-install of context, because the stats show otherwise, unless I came to the wrong conclusion then, but I'm totally open to anyone correcting me.

Once the next install beta update comes I'll scan the updater activity and give an update if it has changed since.

The last time was June 2017 so that's a bit old so take this with a grain of salt. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=187283

But I can't find the thread associated with the youtube videos, where it was explained, it's probably archived because part of DCS 2.1 Alpha and the forum search doesn't find it and post history only goes back 500 pages and ends like way too short, the only thread I found is from above where I suggesed for an option to specify another drive to download/unpack to.
