retlaw Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I have a DELL Precision 7520 laptop that I do not use. Will this be suitable for running a DCS 24/7 server? Specifications: - Intel Xeon E3-1545M v5 (Quad Xeon 2.90GHz, 3.80GHz Turbo, Cache 8MB, TDP 45W, w / Iris Pro Graphics, 4 core -16 threads, ) - 16GB, 2x8GB, DDR4 2400MHz Non-ECC SDRAM - M.2 512GB PCIe Class 40 SSD - NVIDIA Quadro M2200 w/4GB GDDR5 - Windows 10 Pro - Connected to a DELL E-Port Pluss docking station Internet connection: - Download 148,7 Mb/s average speed - Upload 150,3 Mb/s average speed - Average latency 6,98 ms - Location Oslo, Norway I calculate that it will use about 110 W per hour. 110 x 24 hours x 31 days = 81840 W or 82 kWh per month. It is approx. $ 8 each month. And because there is a lot of web streaming in the house, many users, one option might be to upgrade the line to 300Mbps/300Mbps. The upgrade price is about $ 17 more a month. Total cost for the server will be $ 25. Much cheaper than a dedicated hosting server. How many players and how heavy missions can I expect this setup will work for? TM Warthog, Virpil warbrd base, TM TPR, TM Cougar MFD. i9 9900k, GTX1080, 32GB/3200Mhz, 960GB M.2 NVMe, Oculus Rift S.
