Kea Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Hi guys, just wanted to share my experience with Freejoy to create a simple button box. What I wanted to have is a button box that is easily used when wearing my VR headset without taking ages to find the correct button. Also, I wanted it to be usable with different aircraft models. Lastly it had to be easy to bind the inputs in-game. So I started to look around as to what was possible and Freejoy/STM32F1 seemed to be the way forward. What struck me was the ease of use... Just flash the hex on the board, select which pin is to connected to what kind of switch and configure the logical inputs. I setup all switches as button presses, so that DCS had no problem recognizing the inputs. Worked like a charm. Even the length of the button press for the rotary encoders were configurable, which made input recognision for these 100% reliable. With how I set it up the way it is, all 30 digital inputs (pins) are used and every toggle switch generate 2 button presses. The only problem I encountered is that for some unknown reason I can't save my current board config to a file on my PC.
