screamingdemon Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Howzit my fellow pilots:thumbup: I have been struggling for a long time to find good settings for my system and finally I can say that I am satisfied with the result. There may be many out there with old systems that may feel that they cannot run this game smooth without any stutters etc. I hope this will help to optimize and "benchmark" your system and help you decide when to spend money for an upgrade:smartass:. My logic that governs my settings is that min 25 FPS in very detailed and right on the deck with active scenario will give satisfactory playing result. Frankly if I see min FPS increase then I try to add another eye candy to absorb those additional FPS. With these settings I am also using cockpit mirror FPS pique between 25 to 81 but run mostly between 31 and 75 FPS :pilotfly: Some foundations::book: These settings not tested on VR The version is 2.5.6 Using Joystick and Track IR PC Basic Spec: Laptop ROG i7, GTX 960M 16GB ram, 1TB HDD (my SSD drive too small for the game) I show Nvidia control panel and Game Settings and detailed specs. Even with these settings there is opportunity for more FPS by reducing Civil Traffic, reduce shadows etc. Lessons learned: :joystick: a) an old battery will have negative result on FPS even when main power is plugged in. So I highly recommend to remove battery whenever you notice not normal performance. b) Make sure your cooling system is working correctly i.e. blow out all air vents, lift laptop with spacers approx 10mm thick from table top to assure maximum air flow, keep exhaust fan area clear of obstacles (eg mouse, cables, joystick, books, etc) to allow hot air to vent properly. c) Delete "FXO" and "metashaders2" folders located in C\USERS\yourPC name\Saved games\DCS directory when you observe reduced FPS. The game will restore new ones when you start up. For details I add screenshots::helpsmilie:
