Martin2487 Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 The TGP is missing a symbol that the laser is out of range. Respectively, it is shot outside the maximum distance. If the laser were out of range, only LTD should flash (the missing word ranging means that the laser is not able to get the distance) It is a feature of every laser rangefinder that it is able to indicate that it is out of the measuring range. In DCS, if you are flying as AFAC (Aiborne Forward air control) and guiding the laser bombs of other aircraft, it is important for you to know that you are out of range, otherwise the bombs will not hit the target. In the real world, the range of a laser is affected by many factors and therefore it is not always the same value. So it is important to find out in some way that the laser rangefinder is not able to obtain information about the distance to the object. This feature of the laser rangefinder is simulated by DCS on ground units in Combined Arms. If I'm in a tank with a laser rangefinder in Combined Arms then I'm able to find out that the laser rangefinder is not able to get the distance, I believe it is possible to ensure that I can do it on an airplane.
Martin2487 Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Based on the contribution of Santi871, I found out that laser ranging is not implemented. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4387824&postcount=15 But based on the fact that you are writing no evidence, I would like to know how it will be implemented when the laser is out of range. I agree that the symbology may be different, but I am sure that the pilot must be informed in some way that the distance cannot be measured with a laser rangefinder.
