Access "Special Options" from export script

Hello,

 

I am building a data export to create a "situational awareness" system for Multiplayer servers. I am new to making apps for DCS however I am a "professional" software developer.

 

So far I have managed to make my Lua export script and I figured out how to make my own section in the DCS client setting under the "Special" tab. Similar to the tacview options.

 

The part I have not figured out is how to read the setting set under "special" from my export script in "..Saved Games\DCS\Scripts".

 

Can anyone point in the right direction? Docs or an example would be perfect :-)
