In this thread I will post some fictional "what if" skins in the colors of the Spanish Republican Air Force, Fuerzas Aéreas de la República Española (FARE), mostly for REDFOR aircrafts.

Feel free to post your thoughts and relevant content.

In general, I will try to keep in line with historical codes, markings and squadrons.

In the Republican Air Force, the first letter of the type code designated the role of the particular aircraft, the second letter identified the particular model. The second letter was usually derived from the aircraft manufacturers' name or the aircraft nickname (i.e. the I-16 had CM markings for 'Mosca')

Code letter stem / Original Type / Adaptation

A (Asalto) Ground-attack =

B (Bombardero) Bombers =

C (Caza) Fighters =

E (Escuela) Trainers & Light aircraft =

F (Captured aircraft) N/A

H (Hidroavione) Sea-planes Sea-planes, Amphibious aircraft and Maritime Patrol

L (bombardero Ligero) Light-bombers & Liaison aircraft =

R (Reconocimiento) Reconnaissance planes =

S (Sanitario) Ambulance planes =

T (Transporte) Transport planes =

X Amphibious aircraft Helicopters

Spanish Republican Air Force MiG-21bis

The first release includes two fictional FARE repaints of the MiG-21Bis. The hypothetical skins are based on the one created by "ce_zeta" in 2017, which mixed pre-war roundels and red wartime marks for a fictional post-war livery.

  • Third squadron ('Seis Doble') of the 21st Group of Escuadra nº 11 de Caza. The livery is based on I-16 "Mosca" CM-249 of Jose Maria Bravo. In this case CM stands for "Fighter-Mig" (caza-MiG), while the white tactical numbers indicate a squadron leader.

  • Fourth squadron ('Popeye') of the 21st Group of Escuadra nº 11 de Caza. This is an all metal livery, where the registration marking CM stands for "Fighter-Mig" (caza-MiG), while the black tactical numbers indicate a squadron member.
