Schmidtfire Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 C701 I have seen several tutorial videos and read documentation but Im still having issues. in SP mode the 701 is ”wandering” around. The crosshair moves around and is not stabilized on screen. Very difficult to slew adjust and get a lock as the crosshair slowly moves accross the screen. in SLAV mode it is till difficult to get the 701 seeker pointed at the target, even if I have a SPI set. Not as easy as working with the Maverick on Harrier or A-10C.. What am I missing?
Schmidtfire Posted October 22, 2020 Author Posted October 22, 2020 After further testing, the drifting C701 was caused by jitter and dust on my HOTAS slew sensor. Hardware issue. Problem solved.
VC Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 TDC depress should ground stabilise the seeker regardless of what mode (SP or SLAV) you started from, then you can slew accurately without it wobbling or drifting as the plane moves. Wide FoV for coarse adjustments then narrow FoV to zero in on a target and get the lock. TDC depress again and it will try to lock. Red diamond on target and you're good to fire. For SLAV mode there are multiple ways to set an SPI. The best combo is to use the targetting pod as it can lock from longer distances and at wider angles than the C-701 own seeker. That way you can have the SPI exactly on the target, TGP point track, from 15-20 miles out. C-701 SLAV will put the seeker exactly in the right place. As you close in, switch to C-701 display, TDC depress and you're good to go. VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! X51 website: https://x51squadron.com/ Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/d9JtFY4
