ChickenSim Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 ARBS/TV Designation TDC controls not working as described. - When ARBS/TV is selected as designation sensor (SSS AFT x 2), a dot should appear inside the Velocity Vector to indicate. (TACMAN Vol I, pg. 2-47, Fig. 2-43, #1) - ARBS/TV Designation box should appear either 1) when TDC is pressed (aka "action position") and released at the Velocity Vector, or 2) when TDC is held down and slewed (aka "action slewing") onto target then released to command target acquisition. (TACMAN Vol I, pgs. 2-44 - 2-48, 2.4.3 and Figs. 2-43, 2-44) A third method I've seen is simply "no-action slewing" the crosshair off the Velocity Vector and then tapping TDC to designate there, but I can't find this in the TACMAN so perhaps verify with SME. - Wrong icon for the acquired target box. It should just be a rectangle (example in TACMAN Vol I, pg. 2-86, Fig. 2-73 HUD), with a dot in the center if selected as designation sensor. (TACMAN Vol I, pgs. 2-47 - 2-48, Figs. 2-43, 2-44) - Once the ARBS/TV Designation exists, there should be two different slew rates depending on whether the TDC is held down ("action slewing") or not ("no-action slewing"). Action slewing should have a higher slew rate than no-action slewing, which is used for refinement. (TACMAN Vol I, pgs. 2-44 - 2-46, 2.4.3) - TV should appear at top left of EHSD, just like the other sensors.TV DESG and SYMBOLS.trk "It is also true that we parted ways with Chicken after some disagreements."

RAZBAM_ELMO Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Question brought to SME for better clarification. Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass. — Dave 'Preacher' Pace, USN.
