X-31_VECTOR Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Hi all. I'm considering the new T-50 CM3 throttle. and I'm wondering how those of you who already own the CM2 use the 5-way mode dial in DCS (if at all). For example, in the DCS control-configuring interface, does DCS actually read a given button on the throttle as a different button number if the mode switch is in a position other than "1"? (E.g, mode dial is in the "1" position, you click the button under your left thumb, DCS reads it as Button 1; you switch the mode dial to "2," click same button, DCS reads it as button 27 or whatever). Or is the distinction only recognized in the VPC software? Can the different mode positions (1 through 5) be used as modifiers in the DCS control interface somehow? I'm assuming not, since the mode dial would at all times have to be sending a button-push signal for its position to be read continuously. In a perfect world, I'd love to have different modes for takeoff/landing, air to air, air to ground, startup/shutdown, etc. I assume that's very possible in the VPC software, but I don't want to have to program everything in VPC and then again in DCS if I can avoid it. Many thanks!
Bob_Bushman Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 (edited) Say the button rack under the throttle. Is mapped in game as button 40-45 or something in mode 1, in mode 2 those same buttons will map as buttons 46-53 etc for the remaining modes. All handled in the units firmware, no software needed to be running in the background. You can also change all this in the software, load up into the firmware and that profile will be in the unit until you change it again. I don't have the cm, just the very first gen throttle but the grip buttons do not change depending on modes. In the software you can change that as well. X-31_VECTOR Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 Thanks Bob! So if I understand you correctly, on your older Virpil throttle the mode switch affects the buttons on the base of your throttle, but not the buttons on the throttle grip? Can any users of the CM2 confirm whether that's the case for the newer Virpil throttles too?
Bob_Bushman Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Yes, orignally the modifier only altered the button id of the eight square buttons on the throttle base and only those buttons. I then using the virpil software added modifier positions for the three non centering flip switches under neath and the three encoders dials. i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1 Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle.
