Is the emergency landing gear lever animation accurate?

Hi there, quick question...

I’m about to start the process of making myself a f14 landing gear handle, I’ve read the natops, watched all the videos I can find and ofcorse looked at the animations in game and I just wanted to double check before I start building that the animations are correct.

the natops says it push in hard then rotate 90 degrees clockwise then pull with 55 pounds of force to activate the emergency blow, I’m not worried about the push in or 90 degree part what I need to know is that is where the handle animates pulling out from the panel/base is correct and is the distance it is pulled out correct?

any feedback is massively appreciated, especially any from real world experience!

thanks in advance guys, cheers

If I understand the question, the handle rotates just forward of the knob, about an inch forward is where you can see where the inner shaft extends from the outer tube. It was a cheeky affair, a little pin on the inner shaft engages in a hooked shaped groove in the outer tube.

Since this is something only used in an emergency, I only pulled it in the sim, and don't recall how far it extended, or if the sim which had to be easily "resettable" was even accurate. A few inches would be fine for your purposes.

awesome thank you so much for your information! what you have said lines up with what I had expected to be the case. just to be super clear and accurate, at what point does it pull out on the picture below? if I'm reading your post right the inner tube rotates and then extends out from the outer at point '1' in the image below. is this correct?

the reason I ask is that in game it currently rotates and extends out from point '2' as seen below

which just dose not look right as the thing that switches the hyd isol switch down as you drop the gear handle is just floating in space below the whole assembly and i doubt that it drops down in diameter after point 2

as you said though, about an inch or 2 is right for the pull, makes sense aswell if if all that pull does is "crack" the nitrogen bottle valve in the front gear bay to blow the gear down

again thank you for your time and information on this 🙂

Wonderful thank you so much! You have made my day, and made the job of making the gear handle a bit more manageable! Thank you 🙂
