How to reassign virtual hand controls (Reverb G2)

Sorry, just getting set up for the first time, so quite a few questions...

1. I really like using the virtual hand controls in VR, but I can't find how to reassign some default functions. For example, once I grip the yoke the hat on my right hand controller becomes the rudder controls...but I dont want that, I've set the hat to do something else, and now it does the action Ive set and ALSO acts as rudder, but only while holding the yoke. There also seem to be some other preset controls (such as trigger to grip, 2nd trigger to select etc), which I cant find anywhere in the controls section to clear or reassign. Are they in some certain menu, or just baked into the game.

2. Also, when I bind the B or Y buttons, the game doesnt seem to know what they are, and flashes back and forth between 2 or 3 different button labels. When I press those buttons while flying, the functionality is flakey (for example, if I set VR Zoom to B it zooms in and out super rapidly). It's not any kind of malfunction in the controls.

3. I'd like to use one of the small thumb joysticks as directional switches, but because they are axis controls the software wont let me choose them. I'm guessing this is a limitation of the software? For example, if I want to set "up" on the joystick as "wheel break", I can't?

4. Finally, wanted throttle control on one joystick axis, with my goal being press up on the joystick to increase throttle, and down to decrease, but when I assign the axis as "throttle" the game sets the throttle at midpoint when Im not touching the joystick, goes to maximum if I press up, or  zero if I press down, and then straight back to the midpoint when I release the joystick--so if like this I would have to keep my thumb on the joystick constantly if I wanted to fly. Is there any where to have the joystock control throttle changes, rather than the absolute throttle position?

Has anyone made a decent reverb g2 control scheme?

Many thanks. Im enjoying the VR experience in DCS very much and am looking forward to some flying once I can get all the settings worked out.

Oh interesting! Does the G2 have hand tracking with it's external cameras that is recognized by DCS? Or are you using the grip controllers? Tell us more about your set up becasue if you have actual finger tracking without a Capto glove I'd love to try it! (Yes I know I should try DCS on my G2 but setting new stuff up is always slow!

VR Zoom and Extra Zoom (binocs mode) is temporary only while you hold it. Maybe if you tap it, it might flicker. Could that be the problem?

Yeah DCS is bad about allowing analog assignments to keys except for functions it expects to be analog (like Pitch and Yaw). What you need is an a input remapper program like Joy2Key. There you can take the analog inputs of your sticks or other devices, and remap them to keys. Then map those keys in DCS. It's a bother and it sounds complicated, but you should have no trouble.

I think this might be a version of the problem above. Throttles axis in DCS are expecting a simulated throttle on a pivot or rail which stays at the value you leave it. You can fix it also by remapping in Joy2Key Up stick to a key like W, and then mapping W to throttle increase in DCS. Then do the reverse with a key like S.

Good luck!

Im just using the grip controllers supplied with the reverb G2. I find I can fly the f18 aircraft and operate controls fine using the virtual hands, never having to use the keyboard or mouse, but there are some sticking points, such as above. Also, some things, like getting over the throttle detents, just dont seem possible. Ive found some weird things while trying to map the hand controllers, such as the lower buttons (x and a) have one depressed setting, while y and b can have 2 different states depending on if you also shift them left and right. Which doesnt seem to be mentioned anywhere I can find. Anyway, I will struggle on.  Thanks

Ah I see, sorry I thought you were also flying with HOTAS! Never mind...

Good luck with the button mappings though!
