key_stroked Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 (edited) Was flying the B and took a missile, and the instruments and radio went out. Left engine was smoking and I was hearing compressor stalls. I flew back to the boat but my hook wouldn't physically come down on the jet. The handle moved, and the light turned red, but no dice on the hook itself. I was able to force the gear down with the emergency procedure (twisting the gear handle), but is there such an emergency procedure for the hook? And for the record, trying to slide sideways to stop on the deck doesn't work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I read the NATOPS pocketbook, and sure enough there was an emergency hook procedure. Of course, if you look at the hook handle itself in the jet, right next to it in yellow caution lettering is the exact same instructions. I could have saved the Navy a jet. Oops. Must learn to read cockpit stuff next time! Edited March 19, 2021 by Halcyon
