Hi,

Despite the nVidia blurb, when I try and install the latest drivers for XP, it moans during install that my card is not supported!!!!

Anyone else with a 7xxx series card that has this issue? When I re-installed XP the last time, the driver that complained, only ran in 4 color (yes, 4 color, not 4-bit color!) mode!!!!! I installed the last good driver I knew worked, but curiously, it is using the NEWER UI control panel, driver etc.. sans several options specific to my card (nHancer however fixes that issue), that installed with the new, but failed, driver.

Has nVidia dropped support for the 7xxx series completely, despite their site saying to the contrary?!?!

I have to say I'm extremely unhappy at that situation, especially considering the reason for no less than 3 major product lines since I purchased by card appearing in the space of just 18 months, and all as a result of V!$7a.

On a side note, I have Vista Ultimate x64 SP1, but it is nothing compared to XP.

So... anyone else experiencing this problem? I would post over at the nVidia forum, but I don't seem to get any real help over there. I think they want me to go buy a 8xxx, 9xxx or GTXxxx series, which isn't happening! My 7950GX2 is perfectly adequate, thanks!

Best regards,

Tango.

Your card is on the supported hardware list - are you sure you are doing a full uninstall of the previous version of drivers, followed by a reboot, then install the newer version? I personally always uninstall the drivers via "add/remove programs", then just to be sure, I manually select each card in device manager, right click it and then uninstall it. Once you have done those 2 steps, then reboot to ensure the PC is a clean state with no references to the old driver versions - then install the new drivers. Works every time for me and there is no need to use driver removal tools if you follow the proper process.

If you can't solve your problem, then my advice is to stick with your current version of Forceware and consider contacting Nvidia to query if there are issues with your particular model of card and the latest drivers.
