Hi. Playing a lot on 4YA servers, Caucasus/Syria, ED F/A-18C. If 40/40 players are playing, when I'd got destroyed and selecting a new role, game closes in 90% times. Also, seems game crashes the GPU driver, because other apps, which use GPU (like chrome for YouTube, or PDF viewer), crash or filling render region with a black screen.

Game Version: Steam Open Beta 2.7.9.18080

OS: Windows 10 Pro

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

GPU: MSI RTX 3070

RAM: 32Gb (2x16) DDR4 3200 Mhz

Pagefile: Managed by OS/32 Gb min - 64Gb max

Settings: Almost HIGH preset, 1080p, SSLR, SSAO disabled, forests at half.

What I observed: game uses a HUGE amount of system memory. For Caucasus game uses almost 27 Gb, when I tested Syria, game takes like 50-60 Gb. It's not a big deal because of 32Gb RAM + unlimited swap file on M2 NVME SSD, but I think it can be an issue, as can be seen in a logfile. In a logfile you can see that for some reason game cannot load some textures. Maybe it's running out of memory. GPU memory is OK btw, never reached more than 6Gb in DCS (8 available, 16 with shared pool). Also, I had the same "crash" issues on Syria. When there are 10-15 players all is OK, by the way. Problem occurs after 25-30 people at the server.

What I tried with no result:

• Changing GPU drivers via DDU to clean uninstall + safe mode. Tried both Game Ready and Studio drivers. Now on 497.29 Game Ready.

• Changing graphics settings in DCS.

• Cleaning temporary DCS files, cleaning Saved Games DCS directory.

• Steam game verify local files

What I did not try:

• Disabling XMP profile in BIOS, which is enabled to use 3200 Mhz on my DDR. I won't disable it because it's kinda stupid to disable factory defined frequencies (and how it should affect the crash at all..)

• Switching to Stable version. Will test in the near future.

No other app nor a game has any problems with GPU/setup. Dump, log and dxdiag are attached here.

Nevertheless, after playing for 1 hour and 20 minutes:

2022-01-11 19:43:48.743 ERROR   DX11BACKEND: Failed to create shader resource view for coremods/aircraft/f14/textures/forrestal/HB_forrestal_Island_3_Nrm.dds. Reason: Not enough memory resources are available to complete this operation.
Then the game crashed. It is very easy to notice the lack of memory in the Dxdiag. Unfortunately, the dxdiag attached here is not made at the time of the crash. But the "correct" dxdiag should be in your crash package. You can easily see at the very beginning of the report the amount of available RAM. In such cases it does not exceed 1 gigabyte.

It is much cheaper for the memory manufacturer to overclock the video memory at the factory and sell it to you. If the user will not use DCS, no one will notice this overclocking. There are quite a few such cases on this forum.

But with infinite swap it's not an issue.

Btw, seems stable DCS with 25/40 is more stable - no crash within 3 hours with ~15 destroys and changing roles

No, it's not a problem. It is the cause of the crash.

I think so. But i just wonder why it is a problem 😞

Maybe dump is enough for dev team to check with pdb etc.

Tens of thousands of different computers.
My game doesn't crash. True, I don't play for a long time... 🙂

Funny 😄
