How to operate rotary knobs using Leap Motion

I installed he software for Leap motion and enabled it in DCS settings and it works very nice when pushing buttons in the virtual cockpit; howeve, i cannot rotate knobs effectively, either they rotate a little bit, or too much, and without any control over the rotation direction. What am I missing ? is there a specific way to interact with them ? I am also not clear on how to interact with muli position knobs. Appreciate the help.

Rotary knobs are one of the falling over points of the DCS leap motion implementation at the moment, I'm yet to find a reliable method of controlling them with leap.  I think that the intention is you stroke the top/bottom side of the knob with sides of the index finger but it's not great at the moment.

Multi postion toggle switches are similar but a little more useable, I find that flicking the switch with the finger tip is the best way to do it; you need to hit the activation portion of the switch though, I think that this is normally where the selection indicator (white line or arrow/point or whatever) is.

My work around for the rotaries is to use mouse controls bound to the cms switch on the warthog stick, I use the pinky paddle switch as a modifer in DCS so I can still use mouse controls whilst still hotas.

My preference for rotary switches would be to have the thumb & index finger engage with the switch together, once they are pinched onto the switch the control is locked to that switch until the fingers are unpinched and the rotational axis of the wrist defines the rotation of the switch.  No idea if that is codeable though

Thanks, i will give it a try. Would improving the way rotary knobs work on ED or Leap motion ?

The improvements need to be made on ED's implementation I think.

It will come eventually, there been no significant change in it for the last two open betas but during that time the focus has been on apache so we might start to see more work done on some of the ancillary bits now.
