F-16EX grip and Orion base unable to align inspection hole with flat surface?

Today I got my WinWing Orion set and I'm having some trouble with the F-16EX grip and the Orion joystick base.

The PDF of the homepage says to up screw the nut and align the inspection hole with the aft flat surface of the grip and then secure it with a screw.

That seem clear but I just can't align the inspection hole with the flat surface when I tighten the screw nut properly. The inspection hole is always around the 1 to 2 o'clock position and there is still thread visible.

I tried it like 30 times now and it won't change. The nut only bites the thread of the grip when the inspection hole is at the 9 o'clock position and it tightens up when the inspection hole is around 1 to 2 o'clock position.

I can't get it to 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock with a tight nut.

Am i supposed to leave the nut lose and simply align and secure it? That can't be right can it? - It would then only rest on that tiny lock screw...

Am I doing something wrong here or is there a problem with the threads of the latest batch?

I don't get it...

JFI: Solved the issue by cutting a washer (32mm outer dia, 16mm inner hole) from a 1mm thick PTE material and placed it where according to the manual the washer goes that supposedly is no longer necessary. Now the nut tightens and the lock screw is at exactly the 6 o'clock position.
