Good evening, all. I was introduced to DCS about four years ago by a friend and was blown away by how real it is. I was a Naval Aircrewman on SH-60Bs, I have my private pilots license, and love aviation. I've finally acquired the hardware goodies to run DCS myself but it's not going well so far.

First, I picked up a Logitech X-56 HOTAS. My first attempt to use it didn't go so well because it wasn't recognizing the throttle unit. The flight stick worked, but not the throttle. (I did have a friend's Thrustermaster stick and throttle plugged in for the first week and they both ran fine.)

I tried assigning the throttle myself in the controls menu, but DCS just wouldn't recognize the throttle. (Yes, it's plugged in.)

I uninstalled DCS Beta and am reinstalling it with the throttle and flightstick plugged in.

Are there any known problems with this happening to others? Should I expect success this second time around?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tested the units in other sims/windows controller settings? Does logitech have any required drivers? Theres multiple ways to set throttle too, so either in button controls for throttle up/down, or under axis controls menu (dropdown box at the top) as the thrust axis. then if you goto tune axis, sometimes things in there can be inverted etc so try flicking few of those switches?!  ... trust me, once you do get it sorted, you will become addicted like the rest of us haha

X-56 doesn't need drivers. If you see the throttle unit as recognized in the windows controller settings, click on "rescan devices" when you run the DCS from adjust controls page. I didn't have any problems with it

Thank you for your comment, CH4Pz. I tried the units in X-Plane 11. They were recognized in that as well, but were also not functioning properly. I suspect I might have received bad units. Grrr!

I'm looking forwarding to becoming addicted to DCS!

I didn't think drivers were required, vtaf_arche; thank you for confirming for me. I do see both the flightstick and throttle recognized. I clicked on "rescan devices" with no luck. I might have a defective unit.

Would love to help more but Im out of ideas 😕 If both are functioning correctly in the windows controller test (Run->joy.cpl) they should be fine. If they aren't, then yeah theres a big possibility that you've got a faulty set. I hope you'll find a solution soon
