rick123 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hi, I've purchased the English download version a few days ago and although my system is a bit outdated for it, I was really happy with it. Much more detailed then what I'm used to from X-Plane. DCS:BS is a great sim! My system: iMac Dual Core 2GHz, 2GB RAM, Windows XP (via Bootcamp), Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB VRAM, ATI 8.8 for Mobility Radeon before change, ATI 8.12 with Mobility Modder patch after change, original 8.8 driver after rollback Unfortunately, I had the glorious idea of updating ATI display drivers to 8.12. Since then, Launcher.exe opens just a white window with yellow loading label and grey stripe in the upper right corner and then crashes with the "encountered an error" message. I completely deinstalled DCS:BS with the deinstaller, then reinstalled it again. No change. I deinstalled the new drivers with ATI driver deinstall utility and installed the old ones (8.8 Radeon Mobility)...no change, the crash still occurs. I also tried just about any combination of monitor and Catalyst control center settings available. The error report says AppName launcher.exe ModVer 5.1.2600.2180, AppVer 0.0.0.0 Offset 0006a21e, ModName opengl32.dll. The multi-player version launches without problems. (And just to be clear, yes, I do start Launcher.exe by the menu or desktop shortcut.) All of my other games work with both drivers, e.g. FSX, Fallout 3, Spore, Mass Effect, etc. Does anyone have an idea what else to try? Is there a settings file in a user directory that I should also delete?
rick123 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 SOLVED I have solved the issue by removing the ATI driver again, cleaning up any remains with a utility, and reinstalling it again. Classic. :D By the way, I figured out that if the launcher starts but hangs during loading a mission, this can be caused by a missing Temp folder. Add an empty Temp folder and it works again.
jdrichard Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I have the same proble with the Launcher crash...they need to fix this bug bad......*&^*&^(*%
sagaz Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I can not say if I have this same problem, but it is what it seems. Depending on the configuration of video that I am using, I come to open the main menu of the BS. I can use the mission editor, among other functions of the menu. But at the time of opening the missions, I have the BS fell to the desktop, and presented the following error messages: 1 - Launcher.exe is not responding. or 2 - the program DCS.exe was not responding. Close the window and I am warning sent back to a window of debriefing. I'm already suffering to 5 days ... But I am sure that the DCS will find a solution for all ... because already lost 5 reactivations of record of both format and reinstall the whole system of HD CORE 2 DUO 2.5 3 GB memo DDR2 250 hd space sata + hd 80 gb windows xp he SP3 Directx 9.0c GFORCE 8800 GT 512 mb ddr3 256 bit TV monitor LG 22'' (Use all configs for test)
