Flyby Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 check out the link and see what you think. Maybe Intel is beginning to understand, and maybe the larrabee processor will be the gamers' delight? It's in pdf format: http://download.intel.com/technology/architecture-silicon/GamePhysicsOnLarrabee_paper.pdf Hope you find it interesting. -Nighthawk- Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Larabee with only have a chance of being successful if game developers take advantage of it, after release this will be a while. No point getting one on launch as a cheaper ATI / Nvidia will do the job much better.
Flyby Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Hi NightHwak, I'm not quite sure I understand your reply. Do you refer to Havoc and PhysX from the card makers? Maybe that's it. If so I tend to think that Intel offers the more exquisite solution, if the paper is to be believed. I'm no techie on such things, but Intel seems to explain Larrabee's architecture well enough for me to see that it's addressing my (very focused) concerns about smooth gameplay in combat flight sims. If true, Havoc and PhysX may still be viable, but less so for sim producers. Then gamers won't be forced to pick one side or the other ala Crossfire or SLi (though some X58 mobos run both). I'm still waiting for things to settle out anyway. So maybe more info will be released by the time I'm ready to buy a pc?
