Confused on how to make a vdi and hsd for my f14 simpit

Hello recently I've been finishing up my f14 simpit and i have finally gotten to the vdi and hsd part. I am not sure on how to put a image i want on a lcd screen and what correct size lcd screen i need to buy for the project. I do not want to connect the hsd and the vdi to the actual dcs game i just want to be able to flick a switch in my simpit and have the lcd screen turn on with the correct symbology. I am kind of stuck, any youtube tutorials or tips would be extremely helpful on making my f14 pit finally finished.
