AndyPx Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 I was playing PVP, and I fired 2 SD-10 missiles at an F-16, but it dodged in a ridiculous way. What's going on? 1
Dr_Pavelheer Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Is SD-10 useless? Not at all, in fact it's a pretty good missile. The video seems to me like DCS being DCS compounded by issues stemming from online play, when server tries to compensate for couple hundreds ms of latency sometimes things can get weird, especially in a game where players move at transsonic speeds and missiles have quite realistic limitations, both in kinematics and in guidance 1

If an object flies at a 90° angle to a Doppler radar, it can no longer be detected. A Doppler radar only detects targets moving towards or away from the radar because the radar beams emitted are reflected back at different speeds after hitting a moving target (the Doppler effect). However, if a target flies at a 90° angle, the approach speed to the radar is zero and the radar beams are reflected back at the same speed and ignored by the radar. Dr_Pavelheer Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Notching with sky in the background? Jesus, radars in DCS are in even worse state than I thought 2

Napillo Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Yea, it shouldn't be using any notch for looking up. Engine issue with DCS, probably.
