isaac mcpeek Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 For some odd reads the DCS Mig-21 has become uncontrollable within any kind of reason due to Ghosting inputs to the, old or new X-55(old) or brand-new X-56 HOTAS throttle. It has done this before mildly then after some time the issue when away, perhaps after a DCS update. Then I still had the old X-55 HOTAS, but I had NO problems with other DCS modules and yes, I triple checked for double mapping it wasn't the issue. Has anyone else had and solved this quirky issue. I bought a new HOTAS thinking THAT was the issue, only to find the new one and the old one, BOTH are still doing it, but ONLY on the DCS MiG-21, again no problems with any other module or simulator just the Mig-21. For example, I throttle up and the drag chute comes out or throttle back & the landing gear drops down. Thank you all who respond for your time & help.

I had constant problems with the Logitech X56 and ghost inputs. (Apparently is quite common). Seemed to be module specific to me - but in the end that was only coincidental - it was the device itself. As a short term solution I ended up using a Modifier on the opposite HOTAS so that signals would only be sent if both the button/switch was used whilst the modifier was held down to get DCS to ignore the random signals, but in the end I got away from the logitech gear. Was painful to the wallet, but the best decision I've made peripheral wise in quite some time. While you're probably not going to want to hear this -I reckon it's the devices that will be the issue. (Since it's a common problem with Logitech devices, it wouldn't surprise me if both are doing the same thing). There does seem to be some correlations in regards to the USB port and amount of power used as well (and possibly whether lights are turned on/off / etc which is controleld by the logitech software on the PC). You could try running it through a isoolated/powered USB controller instead, and turning off all the lights to see if it improves. (For me it reduced the problems, but never eliminated completely). I hope I'm wrong with this and there's a simple easy fix for you, and/or that turning off lights and using a powered USB is the fix. Otherwise in the mean time maybe try the modifier workaround to at least get you airborne. Edited October 18, 2022 by Dangerzone
Sideburns Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 As a former Saitek X-55 owner it is probably the x-55/56. Mine worked fine give or take some twitchiness on the throttle thumb axis for about 6 yrs. A powered USB hub improved but did not remove the twitchiness issue. After 6 yrs use the throttle ghost button presses started. Being DIY minded I opened the throttle up to find poor quality, thin wires fraying and breaking. Cutting out the old wires and replacing with new was tricky given the narrow clearances involved, but it is possible. I solved the ghost press issue but shortly after upgraded to a TM Warthog, other than missing the thumb axis I haven't looked back.
