loscsaba86 Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Hello Guys, I would like to make a formation take-off with 3-4 MiG-21. Could someone link me here a tutorial, how to place and move the other planes behind / next to the leader of the formation? Thanks for the helps in advance, I wish you all a nice day. Best regards, Csaba
TEMPEST.114 Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) If you want exacting placement of one unit to another you have two choices. 1. Use the pre-baked 'Formation' patterns inside the mission editor. These will NOT allow you to do what you want. 2. Have each of the 3-4 aircraft as their own groups. Have each of them have a FOLLOW command where you specify how closely they stick to their target. The nomenclature in the Mission Editor for follow is disgustingly unclear and confusing but think of them like this: Distance - IN FRONT and BEHIND the target, along it's direction of travel relative to the centre of the target, in feet Elevation - (this one is clear at least) How much higher or lower than the target should this aircraft fly, in feet. Interval - (who named this?) This is the LEFT and RIGHT side of the target's centre. Minus numbers are left of the target, positive numbers are to the right of the target, again in feet. This way you can explicitly say what position an aircraft will be in relation to its FOLLOW target. You can only FOLLOW allied aircraft. If you go this route, you will probably need a TRIGGERED ACTION to turn on/off the follow and if off, then what to do, otherwise, because they aren't really in a 'group' or 'flight' then they will leave their notional 'leader'. Hope that helps. Edited November 23, 2022 by Elphaba 1
