Nathann6579 Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 (edited) Hello, I am helping my brother spec an entry level pc for DCS. Currently he has acquired a RX6650 XT and a WD black SN770. Initially I was just looking at pairing that with an Intel 12100F, but then I noticed that the Ryzen 5600 is available for virtually the same price. I am pretty tech savvy, but I cannot find any real direct comparison between the two cpu's for DCS. In general I know the 5600 is a bit better than the 12100F and even comes close to the 12600k in some circumstances, but DCS is a unique beast that strongly favors specific resources like ram, cache, and clock speed. The 5600 has twice the on chip cache, but the 12100f is slightly faster single core, ( https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+5+5600X&id=3859,https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-12100&id=4687 ). Which factor would be more important for DCS performance? The 5600 has 2 extra cores as well, but I don't know how much that helps DCS in particular. At the high end (eg. 16 to 24 cores), I know it does not help much, but maybe 4 to 6 produces some uplift? Also, does anyone know if AMD's Smart Access Memory has any value for DCS performance? I would really appreciate any advice or insights. Edited November 28, 2022 by Nathann6579
Nathann6579 Posted November 28, 2022 Author Posted November 28, 2022 Additionally, Is there any measurable difference between the 5600X and the 5600? Gamers Nexus indicated that they were identical for most games, but how about DCS in particular? Does 200mhz matter?
