Dusty Rhodes Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 How do you make it so you have a block of 2 or 3 missions that you advance to one of the missions in the block depending on your performance without advancing thru the missions one by one? I hope that question makes sense as I am not sure how to word it. Do you have to name the mission file in a specific way? Dusty Rhodes Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 I guess what I am asking is how do you sequence the missions so you are given the proper mission in the next phase, depending on how you did in the previous mission? Is it done in the naming of the mission? GGTharos Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 The way the next mission is chose is the following: First, by score. If you say, score 70 points, and in the next phase you have a mission for the 70 pointer, this one is played. If in the next phase you have an interval (say 51->80) which includes the 70 points, a mission belonging to this interval is chosen. What if you have multiple missions for this interval? In that case, the mission is chosen randomly. Ie. say you have 5 missions for this interval, the computer rolls a die and picks mission 4. Naturally, the remaining intervals must also have at least one mission assigned to them. GGTharos Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 If you want to force a specific mission to be played in the next phase, assign it its own interval (ie. say precisely 65 points) and make sure, via trigger, that the player is awarded exactly 65 points at the end of the mission he needs to play to get to that mission. Dusty Rhodes Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 Kewl info. Now how do you assign the point value to the mission for advancement? I know how to assign points, but I don't know how to assign point intervals. GGTharos Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 You assign point intervals to the campaign phase/stage, not to an individual mission (hm, this must sound very confusing ... perhaps I should say, you assign a mission to an interval within the phase? ...) In the campaign editor, choose a mission, and assign points 'from-to'. I will fire up my editor later and take a screenshot if you still need help with it. Dusty Rhodes Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 That would help greatly. Thanks GG. Dusty Rhodes Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 GG, I think I figured it out. You assign the values for success or failure in the campaign builder itself and score the points in the mission. So you really have to manipulate the scoring in the mission when assigning points to something so that success can be reached or failure can be had. If all that made sense, am I right in what I just wrote? :) Dusty Rhodes Play HARD, Play FAIR, Play TO WIN Win 7 Professional 64 Bit / Intel i7 4790 Devils Canyon, 4.0 GIG /ASUS Maximus VII Formula Motherboard/ ASUS GTX 1080 8 GB/ 32 Gigs of RAM / Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog / TrackIR 5 / 2 Cougar MFD's / Saitek Combat Pedals/ DSD Button Box FLT-1
GGTharos Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) My bad for not getting back to you sooner; Yep, looks like you got it right :) You can also set it up so that you always move forward (ie. by always scoring a minimum of 51 points) which causes the campaign to be just a bit more static-y. :) You can also set things up so you lose points as well, IIRC. Edit: Yup, you can assign negative point values, so, if say some of your units die ... ;) Edited January 25, 2009 by GGTharos 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
