Cant revert to older version.

Hello, Im posting here because the website wouldnt let me select/click any of the correct topics ( NICE BUG! ).

So Ive been trying to download an older version of DCS to have better VR performance. Ive been trying it with the usual command promt like in this article.

Ive also tried the DCS Updater GUI Utility mentioned here.

After these two methods didnt work I removed all my DCS files and reinstalled DCS.

But I still cant get it to download an older version of DCS via the command promt or the GUI tool.

When I run the command promt, go to my DCS folder and execute the line "DCS_Updater.exe update 2.7.5.10869@release" then the updater loads up and give the error message "Version 2.7.5.10869 is not available. Consider updating". But the Updater is the most current one (2.16.2.170).

After the download fails and the error message pops up, I get a file with more information:

This happens when I try to revert to any Version of DCS not just 2.7.5.10869.

Are downloads to older versions just not possible because of some backend bug on their servers or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

@Nihilicious At first glance it seems you're typing the command correctly (after all, the process is initialized and connection to master server is established).

I suspect you're just trying to dig up too old of a corpse and the message in the log really means what it means. ED keeps only a few of recent, older builds on their servers for a while (a while being two-three months maybe? Not sure). Then they're permanently deleted to make space for the next ones. Searching for better VR performance you might be lucky with one of 2.7.17-2.7.18 builds, but the one you gave in your example is from summer of 2021 - and thus it's looooong gone.

You are correct, it still works. Apparently Eagle Dynamics only stores the last couple of releases on their servers. I tried DCS 2.7.16.28157@release and it works now (its the oldest one thats still on their servers to download). Finally I can enjoy VR again.

Glad you've got it sorted. And it's useful to know what oldest build is still available - looks like they keep them for up to 6-ish months give or take few weeks. Thanks for testing ;).
