BastiScholz Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) I just played the 5th mission (first night mission) and must say, i am frustrated somehow. After a very nice flight over the border and some shooting at an airport, i got some coordinates for a crashed pilot. Flown there, waiting 8 minutes for the helos. At minute 6, while i was orbiting above the crashed plane, suddendly some random-ass SAM appears and shoots me down instantly. Where did this suddendly come from? How am i supposed to react to this? I feel like it was scripted and i had no chance at all. Well... should i try again? Another 1,5 hours in the dark? Edited February 19, 2023 by BastiScholz
King39 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 I'm very sorry you had a bad experience with this mission. It was a very difficult one to design within the limitations of the game. One point though, had you maintained altitude of Angels 11 (11,000 ft) as instructed by Wizard (to avoid deconfliction) you would have been at a safe altitude to avoid the MANPADs. The MANPADs were there to target the rescue helos not your aircraft. Again, I'm sorry for your frustration and maybe try it again. I've always enjoyed the challenge of this mission flying the "canyon run" at night towards the target area. John
Odessa Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 I remember that mission. And remember someone else ( rescue helicopter probably) was shot down and Wizard said "Everyone RTB". Maybe you were closer than that helicopter to enemy?

I think he was a bit low and too close. Thanks ASAP.
