A few days ago, while closing a session of Blackshark, I may have hit another key or button on my HOTAS and BlackShark closed quickly. When attempting to start BlackShark from my desktop icon, the circle thingy appears as it seems to be loading the program but disappears (I've got Vista as my OS) without BlackShark appearing. I tried this several times with the same result. I then tried to start BlackShark from the Start Button/All Programs/Eagle Dynamics/Ka-50 BlackShark icon, also getting the same result. In frustration, I decided to un-install BlackShark and re-install it. I had saved my downloaded BlackShark setup and Data1 file. When re-installing I received several error notices, that certain files were corrupt, with the option to stop the install or ignore,... I chose to ignore (the only possible option). Well, after the questionable re-install completed, clicked-on the new BS desktop icon and got the same result,... no BlackShark.

My next step was to email 'support@digitalcombatsimulator.com' informing them of my problem, requesting assistance as to how to re-install BlackShark. It's been two days, yet no response to my email. I gave my serial number and transaction number in that email.

Can someone give give me some assistance/guidance as to how to re-install BlackShark so it loads and runs properly on my computer.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I've got Windows XP, so I don't think I can be of much help. I have had to reinstall it 3 times, but that is all I did, was reinstall over the old install and it worked fine each time.

I am now a bit gun-shy as to modding things, all 3 mess-ups were a direct result of trying to mod. I suggest e-mailing them again, or wait for someone here with VISTA as the operating system to help you.

Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

Hey TonyP I also hate to hear about you troubles, but as Suniah, I too have XP. And as Sunjah, I'm not adding anymore downloads to BS as I to had to reinstall 3 times. For some reason when I added something , tried my desktop icon , I would get nothing couldn't get BS opened no matter what I did.

Have you tried to download a fresh set of Setup and DataCab files? I had to do a re-install and got error messages with my Datacab file, so I down loaded it again and it installed okay first time. I use XP, but my brother uses Vista and I copied my files to his PC (to save on a long download) and he had the same problem with my datacab file, so he had to download a fresh copy of it, and then his install went fine.

Andy, where do I go to get a fresh set of Setup and DataCab files? I went to the DCS homepage and could not find a page that had those links. I really don't want to buy another BlackShark download for 49.95 when I should have one able for a re-install. Any lead/help will be appreciated.

DCS homepage and log in using the nickname and password you used when buying the sim (not necessarily the same as your forum password), then Files, Products. You should see your serial no and a download button (plus a buy again button). Hit the download button, I presume you won't be charged again.

Well guys, I got BlackShark(BS) to install and work on my computer, thanks to all who responded to my post. After the second re-install, BS loaded, but clicking on the desktop icon continued to give me the same result, the Vista "circle-thingy" quickly appeared after double clicking on the icon, then just as quickly disappeared without BS appearing on my monitor. I then right-clicked on the icon and selected "Run as Administrator", that was the answer, BS loaded and the Sim appeared on my screen. Apparently something got "messed-up" with my security settings under Vista which blocked BS from loading. In all probability, my original install of BS was OK, all I had to do is adjust my security settings. I can't wait for Windows 7 to arrive so I can dump Vista, it's such a pain.

Again, thanks for your responses.
