murdoc311 Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Ok, I already started a thread asking for help with the thumb slider on the x52 (still can't get that to work). Well I'm back with more questions... 1. No matter what I do I can't get the slider to work as camera zoom. I have cleared my saitek profiler and started fresh. 2. Can't get the fire button on the stick to map to release weapon. no matter how I set it up the trigger always fires rockets and missiles. 3. can't get clutch to fire countermeasures. I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure it out. i think maybe I'm looking at the wrong key commands in-game and I'm simply mapping the wrong keys. Can anyone give a walk throu on setting up these buttons?
glottis Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I'm not sure this is the best way, but the way I set up my x52 is like this: 1. Created a blank/empty profile. By this I mean removing all the modes, shift functions, etc from a profile. If you have an X52 Pro you can use my profile. If not, say so and I'll try and remember the steps to get to that point. 2. In the control panel (that is, windows control panel) go to the controller settings and disable the clutch there - it seems that the 'latched' clutch - i.e. one where you press it to toggle on and off, is not a per-profile setting. 3. Set all the axes and buttons up within Black Shark. Now, if you want to change the mode select switch and other slightly obscure features you may need to do it in the profile editor, but I got all the buttons doing stuff just using the in-game interface. Hope some of that helps - let me know if you want anything to be more specific.X3TC.zip
murdoc311 Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Thanks for the info. I'll try that with the clutch and see if it works. As far as my x52 goes its not the pro. I'm really starting to think there is something wrong with the sticks buttons. even after finely getting the fire button to map to release weapon it still "switches weapons" when pressed. I really don't know whats going on. I'm not even running a profile.
glottis Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Apologies if this is patronising, but some people just don't know - the trigger button at the rear of the stick is 2-stage. Now in my experience, if you push it all the way in it triggers the half-way stage and then the full-in stage. If you've managed to assign something to that half-way stage that switches weapons, that could be your problem. Another thing to try is to go into the control setup in Black Shark, and select 'All' from the category drop-down. From here, press the button you're having problems with, and it will jump to the first command that button is assigned to - check it's what you expected for both half-in and full-in trigger. Finally, I think that you can assign the same button to multiple commands - so if I set button 5 to weapon select, then click on the 'fire' command and press button 5, it is now assigned to both. I don't believe the second one overrides the first - you need to explicitly 'Clear' commands to remove them. Edit: Also, the sim assigns some buttons by default when you first run it - switch to the 'All' view in control setup and scroll way down to check. Edited February 17, 2009 by glottis

murdoc311 Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Thanks for the help guys, apparently I'm just a complete idiot. It seems that if you chose to not set realistic mode as default on setup nothing works like you expect it to. I changed to simulation and now everything is running. Thanks again, move along nothing to see here... :music_whistling:
