WizzRD Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Hi, since the ME cracks do hang out here someone might be able to help me out. Looking for a way to convert Lat/ Long into y and x format that DCS writes into the mission file. My search didn´t yield anything that I was able to understand, so a basic and foolproof converter would be great! Thx in advance! Edited June 17, 2023 by WizzRD

Click on the "PLL" at the bottom left, directly before the coords until it says "CCS". That should do it. Note that it will say "X" and "Z". Because Y is altitude, and the miz file format is so old, that it gets confused and uses Y when it should use Z. Since it's so old, we simply forgive it and silently correct it's poor grasp on reality. Edited June 17, 2023 by cfrag

I´m looking for a way to convert some RL Lat/ Long numbers into the y/x value that DCS writes into the miz file. In my case Nav points, that I would then insert into the mission in writing rather than trying to find the spot with the mouse in the ME. Hope that is somewhat more clear now? Thx much!

I guess one way would be to place an object at those LL coords in ME, switch to CCS and read off the X/Z values. Or open the miz, and read the object's x/y from the data. Since DCS's XZ values are proprietary and may even be map-specific, I don't think that there are easier work-arounds. Maybe try the new online map editor? [EDIT: I have just confirmed that X and Z values are indeed map-specific, so an Lat/Lon coords can have different XY in different map. For example, the Lat/Lon for Haifa yields different XZ for Sinai and Syria maps] Edited June 18, 2023 by cfrag
