192nd_Erdem Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hello, I'm using a modest laptop with T7100 CPU(1.8Ghz), 2Gb of RAM and 8400M GS. I'm on Windows 7 too. Now as you can imagine I don't have the best FPS. I'm using the lowest possible in-game settings(though I retained my LCD's natural resolution of 1280x800) and using the affinity trick along with fullscreen settings. My question is, is there anything else that I can do to squeeze some more FPS? In Lock-On, I usually tweaked ini files and disabled unneeded things like Force Feedback and also used some shader mods. In BS especially special effects eat up my FPS. I'd be happy if you could share some of your performance experiments with me. I've searched for performance mods and tweaks but yet to find anything. People seem to be concentrating on affinity trick mostly. Kind regards, Erdem
AlphaInfinity Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I ran BS on a laptop with a configuration similar to yours. There is information in the FAQ on how to edit the graphics lua to turn OFF water and effects. These are options that you cannot turn off completely via the GUI. It helped my framerates considerably. Also, drop your cockpit res down to 512. Made a big difference. 192nd_Erdem Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Turning off water and effects really helped, thanks! I completely missed that FAQ article. My cockpit fps bumped from 18 to 23-30 :)
