Sharkster64 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I was curious, if I somehow disabled the recording of tracks during sp missions, would this give me a higher FPS? If so how would I do that, if it is even possible? It makes sense to me that recording tracks during a mission would gobble up some of my performance. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer
deadsmell Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 (edited) I dont think so man, DCS engine does not actually record "video" for your replay. If you look at the track files, they are very small. someone else will surely explain how that works much better than i can. But Im pretty sure the track replay, just records certain information about the flight, just models, and locations and speeds etc. any event that occurs in the game (like at the end of a mission when it breaks down everything that happened in the mission). Then when you go to watch a "replay" the game just uses that information to " recreate" the flight. Again im no expert, but I think thats roughly how it works. thats how you can have a mission that last hours, and the track file is still very very small. what I would suggest, if your performance isnt as good as you would like, and IF YOU ARE ONLY PLAYING SINGLE PLAYER go ahead and disconnect from the internet, then you can shut off any anti virus/spyware and any other non essential programs you have running in the background, that should free up alot of memory, and improve your performance. Sharkster64 Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 I was watching my track record and it replayed everything from my mouse movements to my button clicks to even my head movement throughout the whole mission. To me that just seems like a lot of stuff being recorded that it might affect performance. My fps arent too bad right now, but i was just curious if it might be improved by this. Yeah, it will replay everything in the original flight........... like all your input......... Well like I said, someone else will be better able to explain exactly how the replay feature works, but WHAT I DO KNOW is that it does not work the way you think it does. But hey, do whatever you want. If you really want better performance, eliminate non essential programs running in the background as i stated earlier, and perform routine system maintenance i.e. defrag disc/registry etc. Edited February 25, 2009 by deadsmell Dont let the smell get to ya...............
