Install problems...

Hello,

 

I've been reading all the threads on installation problems and have tried most suggestions without any luck..

 

1) Download the English version of BS several times. MD5s check.

 

2) Running ATI 9.2 cat drivers on vista (AL turned off)

 

3) Turned off UAC when installing

 

4) Running Vista 32bit / SP1

 

 

The installation runs without error, I also select to install to install DX9

 

When I launch the game the following splash screen is shown... missing the background...

Also, if I click any of the links the game hangs. Although does not display and error.

 

Any ideas? I'm willing to try anything?

That sort of looks like one of the scripting files that launcher.exe uses is broken. I don't recall it's name and don't quite have time to go searching right now, but there is a scripting file that appears to set the options for the menu. It would appear that something just doesn't go right somewhere around there.

 

Try running the multiplayer option - that will start the game directly to dcs.exe. If that starts we might be a step closer.

If it is the case that it does work on multiplayer, btw, you could try installing on a different machine or something like that and see what happens there. (Or reinstall on the first one.) If it does, just make sure to use deactivation if/when you delete the game, so you will retain the activation count.

hello, same problem (Vista business 32 and SP1 X1900 + X1950 crossfire) resolved with Catalyst 8.12. Version Catalyst 9.2not always work (on other Vista Ultimate 32 & SP1 and 2x HD4870s it works - note AI set To the standards)

This sounds promising... I'm also running the x1950. I'll try to downgrade the drivers today. Do I need also uninstall the game before updating the drivers?

no reistall BS, simply unistall catalyst 9.2 and install 8.12 from CCC utility
