Cannot Respawn in SP if Gunner is dead

In Single player if you wreck the Helicopter you need to get both the Pilot and Gunner to Eject from the Helo.

However if the gunner is dead he cannot leave the Helo. If you go to Briefing and Fly to respawn it just takes you back to the pilot.
You need to Quit and restart.
