Hi, I’m new to DCS World (used to play War Thunder), and am waiting for a graphics card.  I refuse to pay 1.5 to 2 x msrp, so I am patiently waiting for a backorder at shopblt.com.  This is the last piece for my latest build.  I have a Pimax 8kx, and for controllers the Virpil Throttle and a VKB Gunfighter stick.  I’m interested in war birds and bought the 109 k-4.

My question is about brakes.  Since I plan to use VR and don’t have rudder pedals, I need to map some buttons for left/right brakes, and using the keyboard isn’t a great option (I could see myself fumbling around looking for the buttons while trying to taxi).  I set up the big lever on the bottom of the stick as both brakes – I figure I can use this while I start and warm up the engine.  But for low speed control during taxi/takeoff, I need independent control and am looking for suggestions on what others may have found works for them.

I had the TM TWCS throttle and TM16000m stick with no rudder pedals. I assigned L R foot brakes to the 2 left hand finger buttons on the throttle. You may want to try something like this? It worked ok and was reasonably good at keeping the 109 straight on TO with this set up.

Though looking at the Virpil cm3 throttle I have, not so easy - maybe try the lefthand 3 way finger button - I have this set up for my Spitfire hand brake up - on & off - down and then middle press when taixing with rudder to get the left\right brake on & no rudder for both wheel brakes.

Though rudder pedals will give you 100% control and it's so much easier (as i've recently found after so many years with stick rudder) - the BF 109 is a bit of a handful at first learning the TO - unless you've been there before that is.

Thank you toastfrenzy for taking time to reply.  I'm supposed to receive the 4090 Friday so this has suddenly taken on more urgency.  There's really nothing on the Virpil that looks ergonomically convenient, so I'm just going to have to make due.  I think the desk mount for the throttle is supposed to be here Friday as well so I've got lots to do.  I'll be using a Pimax 8kx so I need to get Pimax XR and the toolkit and start dialing in settings.  It looks like I've got a lot to learn, and I'm actually looking forward to it.  Pedals are definitely going on my wish list. 🐵

Thanks again!
