Lorry Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 (edited) Just picked up a WINWING MIP so im back in the F18 I'm am also new to the server but anyway's. I was looking at targets on the TPOD setting up some AGM-154 shots when all of a sudden all the SAMS in my TPOD Vanished when I was about 20miles away. I Fired off what I had programed but I was shot down. I followed the missiles in with F6 key and ALL the SAMS were displaying as they hit targets. Is this a known bug as its making the game unplayable on this server. It also happened in the A10 C2 Edited January 18, 2024 by Lorry
rob10 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Were you looking through a hole in clouds using FLIR? The shadows in this scenario seem a bit overdone and blank out your view as everything in the "hole" gets very dark.
Lorry Posted January 19, 2024 Author Posted January 19, 2024 Nope I was below cloud level. What happened was the targets vanished. Not the ground, trees or buildings just the AI. They where there just not displaying on the TPOD like they were see through. I'll try again tonight and setup OBS to record my screen. Hopefully it doesn't happen but still very odd.
Grimes Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 The server uses a bubble script to spawn units in and out based on a number of factors. You can only have so many units active at a time in a mission before performance starts to tank. The Sinai mission has about 18000 units placed in the mission editor, of which 2000 are client slots. A large portion of those units will only ever be active when the objective they are in is active, but a few thousand, mostly sam sites, can be spawned at anypoint. Occasionally there are instances where the units don't spawn when they should or despawn before they should. I'm always on the lookout for such event, but it is often difficult to reproduce due to it not consistently occurring combined with the complexity of the script. All things considered your JSOWs should have caused the bubble units in their area to spawn back in. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
