Tomcatt Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 After updating to newest version on Steam, the game will not install the update. It downloads update but everytime it tries to install update it freezes and makes me try to download update again. I've uninstalled game and tried reinstalling and even left out all the DLC and try to install just the game but i cannot get the game to install properly anymore.
rob10 Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 May be completely unrelated to this, but any chance you are using McAfee anti-virus? It's been causing people issues with the latest update. I don't use Steam, so I can't help with other suggestions if it's not that, but it's worth ruling out the easy fixes 1st. 1
Tomcatt Posted April 14, 2024 Author Posted April 14, 2024 I turned off anti-virus but the problem still exist. The game downloads, then verifies files but after it verifies it just goes back to resume download icon on Steam as an endless process.
rob10 Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Are you using McAfee? If so it may have quarantined a couple of the files so Steam can't find them and tries to redownload. Might need an exception in McAfee to get around this. If you're not using McAfee I'm maybe sending you down the wrong rabbit hole in which case I apologize . 1
Tomcatt Posted April 14, 2024 Author Posted April 14, 2024 No im not using Mcafee, but i turned off my anti virus and it still does not load the game
nighteyes2017 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) having the same problem today with the update. turned of antivirus, but still freezes during update, then starts the whole process from start, after validating the entire DCS install. edit: solved it. Posting here for future references: As soon as the install freezes, go to the task manager and go to the performance tab, then use source control at the bottom and then look at the harddrive to see wich file it is working on. Stop the install, restart your computer and delete that file. Then restart the install process. In this case, is was the Kola map giving problems. there was a 56GB file called Kola.surface5 wich prevented further installs. I ended up first de-installing the Kola Map, then updating, then reinstalling the Kola map again. Edited May 24, 2024 by nighteyes2017
