Guest tjeff7144 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I load game and hit install and the game just freezes and never starts to install. Returned Box game and tried again same problem. Even tried to launch from setup.exe and same problem. I am not a computer person but I did just purchase new Alienware M17X laptop( I know, I know, I paid to much, but the lights are awesome :-)) Also tried installing with all my security fectures turned off. Windows Vista 32bit 4 GB Dual Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz Geforce 9800M GT SLI enabled don't know what all that means, but I hope it's enough to run the game. Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to fix.
EtherealN Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) The hardware is more than enough to run the game. (Though I'm sceptical to the whole thing of having 4gig RAM plus whatever's on the GPU on a 32bit system.) Anyways, I only have the download version, where the install procedure only has the setup.exe and data1.cab files - that's it. It does seem like it fails to load the setup.exe (if the file structure on the disc version is not the same as the download, someone else would have to chime in on that). IF there is a setup.exe and data1.cab set of files on the disc, you could attempt copying those to C: (not the desktop - should work there as well but there are less possibility of other exotic errors if you place the setup.exe AND data1.cab directly into C: ) and then start there. If it behaves identically then - or if the install file structure is different on the disc version, I'm lost. :( Edited April 23, 2009 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Guest -Wolfman- Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Hi... I buy the retail version. I put the CD in then I click INSTALL but nothing happen. So I copy the 2 files (SETUP and DATA1) directly from the cd to my hardrive. And guest what... It work for me. I don't understand why but it work. The SIM work great on single AND multiplayers.
wireman Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I had the exact same issue with the installation of BS from the DVD. I did finally figure out that my computer wasn't freezing, it was just bogging down on something. I found out this was happening only because upon ejection of the DVD, the licensing agreement screenie would then pop up. So, it was apparently trying to install but wasn't able to due to a problem with my system. I saw the post by -Wolfman- in this thread and decided to give it a try.I copied the "SETUP" and "DATA1" directly from the DVD to a temporary folder on my hard drive. Short story, no joy. I decided to give it one more try. This time I went into C:/program files/Eagle dynamics and deleted the Eagle dynamics folder (which was empty) then I did a disk cleanup and defrag. I then removed all power to the computer for about 5 minutes. (I didn't set out with a specified time in mind- I just got occupied changing the kid's diaper.) I turned on the computer and shut off the Firewall and antivirus program. I also ran enditall for good measure. I put the DVD in and selected "exit" instead of "install". I then went to temporary folder I had made as per -Wolfman- suggested and ran the "SETUP". It started to install, but it was painfully slow at first. It started to install with increasing speed and was completed in about 25 minutes. So far so good as I have not had any other problems. I hope this post is useful to the next person with an ornery system. My thanks to the thread posters and EvilBivol-1. My humble system for reference: Windows XP SP3 AMD 64X Dual 4200+ 4 GB RAM Geforce 8600 GT
