thisgameisperfect Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 I've encountered this for months, and I've finally figured out exactly what causes it. As per the title, binding middle mouse to "Force cursor to show, toggle" causes a red exclamation mark to appear next to "Camera transpose mode (press and hold)", making it unusable. This is quite irritating as DCS requires an awkward double click on middle mouse by default so if this keybind worked you could make it just one press. I'm sure the people here with carpal tunnel would appreciate it if this was fixed.
Flappie Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 (edited) Can you name an aircraft, please? I'm looking for the "Force cursor to show, toggle" command but cannot find it. Are you talking about the usual LAlt+C bind called "Clickable Mouse Cockpit Mode - ON/OFF" ? Edited May 23, 2024 by Flappie ---

Some modules call "Clickable Mouse Cockpit Mode - ON/OFF", "Force cursor to show, toggle" instead. They are otherwise identical as far as I can tell, this might still occur on modules with the "Clickable Mouse Cockpit Mode - ON/OFF" but I don't know for sure. 1
Flappie Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I've just tested the F-86F: I assigned mouse button 5 to "camera transpose". I assigned mouse button 3 to "clickable mouse cockpit mode". When "clickable mouse cockpit mode" is turned off, I'm able to move the camera using the middle mouse button. ---

This is a consistently replicable issue on my end, even after a full windows reinstall. Would you like some screenshots?

I've deliberately triggered the issue on the F-86F module for you in this zip, though I reiterate that this can also happen with F-4E. F-86F Camera Transpose Bug.7z Example: 1
Flappie Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Mouse button "1" is the left button, not the middle button. If you assign the left mouse button to any command, you're going to be in trouble. EDIT: Just tested, actually it works fine since the Camera Transpose Mode cannot be used when the cockpit is clickable. I'll test your inputs now and try to understand what happens. Flappie Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Now, that is weird: I replaced all my input with yours, and I don't have your issue: In the F-86F cockpit, it works as it should: Middle mouse button toggles the clickable cockpit mode. Left mouse button makes the camera translate. Have you copied the entirety of your Input folder into the zip? If so, I have no clue why you're getting this error. Maybe the issue comes from the core game files. Try this: Delete this folder ".\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F-86\Input". Run a DCS repair (the folder will be remade). Edited May 25, 2024 by Flappie ---

As for repair, I followed your instructions to the letter and it's still there. As stated even a Windows and game reinstall didn't fix it.
rob10 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Have you tried a different mouse? Do you have any software for the mouse installed (i.e. Logitech controls) that might be causing it to do something different than you think? Sounds like it's an issue on your end somewhere.

That would not explain the red sign. DCS says there is a confict, but my DCS does not find any with the same custom controls. I thought the repair would work... @thisgameisperfect Try this: Browse to "Saved Games/DCS.../Config/Input/F-86F". Rename the "mouse" folder to "mouse_bak". Start DCS. Is the problem still present? Now, reconfigure your mouse settings for the Sabre. Is the issue back? ---

Now, reconfigure your mouse settings for the Sabre. Is the issue back? Okay, following step 3. Error sign has disappeared. Step 4. I do nothing but bind "Force cursor to show, toggle" to middle mouse and "Camera transpose mode (press and hold)" to left click. Controls work fine, a single middle mouse depress enables the cursor and left click controls camera transpose fine. Exit game, reload DCS. Open a random mission in the F-86, error has returned as per usual. Middle mouse still works but Camera Transpose is BORKED. It's always after a restart. Come to think of it, Flappie did you try restarting the game? Sorry I forgot to mention, the error appears after restarting the game once the controls are bound. Maybe that'll get it to show up for you.
Flappie Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Alright, that's interesting. If you hover your mouse over this red sign, what does the tooltip say? Standby, I'll check after a restart. ---

Flappie Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I think it is, actually. Usually, this tooltip tells you which other command is conflicting. Here we see that the command somehow conflicts with itself. Do you use any software/script to manage your DCS controls? ---

Flappie Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 No such issue for me after a DCS reboot. You should contact ED tech support: log into DCS website, click Support, then click Create a new ticket. Tell them I send you and add a link to this thread. ---
Rammi Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I have the same issue, my transpose mode is broken when i bind cursor on/off to MMB. I've contacted ED support but they weren't able to recreate the issue. What system do you have your DCS on? It was working fine when I used Windows10 but broke when switched to 11. ED support told me they have no WIn11 tester to check it on for now
