Jetguy06 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Hi all. I've googled around and couldn't find a satisfactory solution, so I'm asking here. Can someone give me a step-by-step guide to using my Pimax 5k headset without Steamvr? Steamvr causes irritating tracking jitter and lag in the pit, and I know it's not limited to DCS because it's always done it in IL2 as well, and I used to fly that in Steamvr when I had my Oculus CV1. The Oculus was butter smooth in DCS, but laggy and jittery in Steamvr. I'm also having an issue where Steamvr crashes every time I finish a flight and the debriefing screen is loading in. Every. Single. Time. I can't finish a mission and accept the results because the app crashes before the debriefing screen finishes loading in. I also hate that I have to have DCS, Pitool, Steam, and Steamvr running simultaneously. When it was my Oculus, it was just DCS and the Oculus app. I'm done with Steamvr, and I'd like to go with another option compatible with my Pimax. If yall can, please give some recommendations for a good substitute, and help to walk me through disabling Steamvr and swapping to the new alternative? Thanks!!
WipeUout Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 You should be using OpenXR instead of SteamVR but you will need to replace and possibly add a few things. First, you need to add OpenXR compatibility by using PimaxXR (https://github.com/mbucchia/Pimax-OpenXR/wiki). Next you should use OpenXRtoolkit, OXRTK for short, as it has plenty of features to enhance performance. Of note, Foveated rendering will not work from Pitool settings when using OpenXR but with OXRTK, you have that option and it works good. (https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/) For even better Foveated rendering performance, you can also use Quad Views rendering (https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated/wiki) instead of the OXRTK implementation. Quad views runs in the background along side to OXRTK. Read and follow cerfully all instructions and for settings, you can have a look at the Pimax section in the top of VR Forum for tips and recomended settings. 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9800X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR 5, MSI Tomahawk 870E, Crucial 2TB x 2, TM WARTHOG COMBO + PENDULAR RUDDER PEDALS, THE AMAZING PIMAX 8K X, Sony 5.1 Spks+SubW | DCS, A-10C_II, AH-64D, F-14/15E/16/18, F-86F, AV-8B, M-2000C, SA342, Huey, Spitfire, FC3.

Guest Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Hi all, sorry for the hijack. I'm using PimaxXR and OpenXR. Have an old original Pimax 8k, which I think is really just 4k natively. No matter what I try, I can't seem to get DCS to 'offer' anything past 1920 x 1080 or similar. No upscale set anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks '52
