primus_TR Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 RWR can detect tracking/launch by SAMs, but never by other aircraft (tried with AI only). The attached track shows a single F4 vs Mig23 engagement scenario in clear whether. The RWR accurately detects the type of threat (Mig23), but cannot detect when the Mig switches to tracking and launches an R24R. Track: F4EvMig23_R24R.trk

You have to select Handoff, then you will hear how he changes from his scan PRF of 1000 to 2500 the moment he goes into tracking. He switches at 0:38 in the video: (You can also see how Jester locked a sidelobe, lol) Edited July 4, 2024 by Zabuzard
primus_TR Posted July 4, 2024 Author Posted July 4, 2024 Thank you for the reply. Since the last patch, now the RWR repeats the new guy tone (three beeps) at a different frequency when the radar switches modes, which serves as a tracking/launch warning. Just must be careful as it is very easy to miss it 2
Cat107 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 (edited) Yeah, the New Guy Audio (three beeps) should be automatically triggered when new emitter is detected or already detected emitter changes its PRF. No need to use handoff audio for that actually. The beeps frequency will be affected by the PRF of that emitter Regarding the launch warning: ALR-46 isn't able to detect all launches, it's explained a bit more here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/349725-rwr-launch-warning/#comment-5445912 Edited July 4, 2024 by Cat107 1
