I have only been using version of the AIM 9 without the null seeker as that just seems completely counterintuitive to , especially after the inconsistencies in tone I am asking about here with other versions....anyway, thats not my query / issue....

Using the M varsion, I have found there are 4 distinct separate tones, can someone explain what these are and why, as what you get and when seems inconsistent...one of the tones is a rare bird indeed, it seems random as to when it occurs.

Tone 1 - the standard base grumble of the missile

Tone 2 - the increased pitch you get when target is in the reticule, but the seeker head is not uncaged

Tone 3 - The higher tone, when you uncage the seeker (AAR  release button held)

Tone 4 - The rare one which sometimes occurs, without uncaging the head, when the target is in the reticule... this is the rare one....

It appears you can sucessfully launch with tone 2, although its not as good as using tone 3 ( obviously) ....No idea on the tone 4 and why you have 4 differing tones..

Thanks
