SHazmak Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Hi, quick question having just finished Mission 2. On recovery, I got a NC grade because of no communications, presume this is because you don't use the standard DCS comms. Is that right or did I miss something? If this is correct, I guess I should be expecting this throughout the campaign? I hope not because doing proper recoveries and getting a LSO grade is what I always look forward to at the end of a hop.

If you are using custom communication unfortunately you won't get graded by LSO. In real life as a wingman you wouldn't contact the carrier but you would still get your grade. Unfortunately a compromise had to be done as this is not possible in DCS. There are some missions where you will fly recovery without your flight lead and you will be instructed to contact the carrier via communication menu. In those cases you will be graded. You can contact the carrier via communication menu if you like. Carrier build-in communication frequency is 127.5 in all missions but mission 2 (in mission 2 it's 301.0 for a reason I don't even remember). It might cause your flight lead to be ordered to holding pattern until you have landed but you should be graded.
