TFS Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Hello, looking for help, I am driving myself mad trying to figure this out. I have a NLR HF8 Haptic pad, and two bass shakers, been using them since last year daily no problems. Over a week ago I have an issue where after a few minutes or so I hear "PC MODE" through the bass shakers and then they are no longer recognized until sound module reboot, yet my haptic pad and game audio all continue with no issue. I am using SAA (Sim Shaker for Aviators) with Sound Module, Andre (the program developer) doesn't believe it's his program that is the issue. I just restart the sound module and it works again until... "PC MODE" is heard again. This happens in DCS, MSFS, or in my desktop with no game running, with sound through speakers, headset or vr, dosen't matter. Swapped out my sound card, tried another bass shaker... nothing, it seems windows is redirecting or changing the output or something (I'm not very savvy with this stuff) I included a quick clip to hear the audible "PC MODE". Someone point me in the right direction, I'm spending way too much time on this with no luck. Thanks in advance. SSA PC MODE.mp4
Grumpy Moose Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I used to have that problem. The resolution for me was to disconnect the USB cable from the amp and connect my sound card to the amp using an audio cable. My sound card wasn't being used because my headphones have their own sound card. That solved the "PC Mode" issue. They also resolved a problem where I would crash the plane and the bass shakers would let out a loud NOISE and then the SIMShaker software would crash. TFS Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Firstly thank you for responding, I've had no luck asking this question on several message boards. So I'm using an external 2.1 amp/soundboard by Nobsound. I'm going to run a audio 3.5mm plug to a USB c DAC and plug it into my USB port? Instead of micro USB to USB a like I currently have it? That should do it?
Grumpy Moose Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 (edited) No. Don't do that. I have a Nobsound too, but maybe a different model. There is a separate 3.5mm Jack on the Nobsound. At least there is on mine. the audio cable goes from your sound card to your Nobsound. This is only useful if your sound card is NOT doing double duty in playing your system sounds, etc. I hope I make some sense. I will post a video. TFS Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 I understand, I believe I have rhe same model, as far as I know it's the most popular one with simmers. 2.1 50w. I use it currently as the USB connection as an external soundcard. So I can easily connect it to my soundcard. I don't use my on oard soundcard for anything other than I guess the seat haptic... thats plugged into regular USB port (external powered) actually and aworks fine. So I'll use my on board soundcard in SSA? Makes sense. I'll have to give it a shot, for some reason I felt I needed to use the nobsound as a soundcard. I plan go by buttkicker gamer pro and run them all together. Should work I'd imagine as SSA sound module now allows multiple sound sources. gotta get home and try that later.
Grumpy Moose Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 So I'll use my on board soundcard in SSA? - exactly. Let us know how it goes. Grumpy Moose Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I took a video but I'm having a hard time uploading. I believe you know what needs to be done. I hope it works out for you. It made a big difference for me. TFS Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 Awesome man thank you very much for the response. I'll update after I make the switch.
TFS Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, so far since using the audio cable and the sound card, it hasn't disconnected, could be premature to reply as it's only been about 20 minutes without a disconnect, but it was disconnected in seconds if I wasn't immediately in an aircraft and so far so good. I'll reply again, with a longer term update, but so far my guy... high fucking five dude. At least this post exists now in the event someone else has this issue too, google should help find this thread.
TFS Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 So this worked, 100% without fail perfectly. Also tried the audio to dac route as my setups isn't exactly close to my pc but a powered USB hub, also works flawlessly. This is so awesome, because... I've realized that it failed some often previously that a MAJORITY of the time I was only playing with seat haptics and not the transducers. Back to the original WOW factor I had back when I first started the haptics.
