Calvin.Pimax Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Glad this has been addressed! We've set up a QC group in Shanghai to inspect the headsets before they're shipped out. We're committed to enforcing quality control not just for future headsets but also for our current lineup. 2 1
Crystal light Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Just want to thank you Dangerzone for posting the issue with Pimax Crystal Light and the follow up. I'm glad you managed to sort it out. Also thank you to Calvi.Pimax and everyone for their helpful input. I am new to VR, while waiting for preordered Crystal Light I bought second hand PSVR2 and tested on PC. When Pimax Crystal LIght arrived I was satisfied with it's great like life photorealistic image. But comparing to psvr2 my Crystal Light had some issue with image clarity at focal crossing point. I have a clear image when looking through only right eye, when I look through only left eye the image is unsharp. I have to move headset maybe half a milimiter or a mil and image becomes sharp in left eye but other becomes unsharp. Can the issue be sorted out by individually adjusting IPD in Play software? Maybe it's same issue I’m struggling with maybe it is called binocular overlap? Most times image is 97% approx. single window but I can notice if picky tiny bit of binocular feeling when you have to adjust both sides and make it look into one. Sorry hard to explain." On Pimax discord I came across Marco who describes a similar problem, he says "it's like a blurry ring around the center where characters are like doubled". It's not that bad in my case it's not doubled but it is somewhat blurry unclear in a small spot. to Dangerzone's VR headset issue. the next issue I came across is I noticed strange behaviour of my VR headset when setting up room space : then it doubles and overlaps the instructions on display. on screen there is instruction REMINDER you have left the Safety Boundary. Please return and press volume button to open the System UI and reset the safety Boundary. In my case when looking with both eyes I see something like this (ReReminder.youyoave) and it just carries on same way overlapping the text. Also same issue was on another informative instruction when setting up floor distance. Instruction says: Loss of positioning signal, current ambient light is abnormal. (it's when I moved headset towards floor very close). That informative instruction also was doubling/overlapping. I said I'll finish my trial of 15days and will send VR headset back as psvr2 does everything for less money and with better blacks (many different levels of blacks) in night simracing Assetto Corsa Nordschleife. Coming down hill on psvr2 I could see a ray of light being shot out in a black sky from house between fire trees. In Crystal Light in all Local Dimming options I could not see the ray of light. The Blu looks nicer in psvr2. I changed my mind when AC and Le Mans Ultimate looked both similar oversaturated and looked as a game in psvr2. In Pimax Crystal Light image doesn't look like a game but almost as real image. So I paid the rest of £200 and kept my Crystal Light headset hoping I'll be able to sort out not clear image issue I'm in touch with somebody from Pimax. I really like they support as they do respond just you need patience. 3
Crystal light Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 An UPDATE: I kept using MY PRECIOUS TIME, and learning stuff from ytube and internet. I’m glad I kept coming back to Assetto Corsa game and different free Steam VR experiences/mini movies for testing. It’s not the easiest thing to deal with as bad image makes me bit uncomfortable, dizzy. But my efforts helped me to CONFIRM the issue and I believe I found a solution. It is to do with a shape of face and distance from eye to glass. When I adjust/pull headset on left eye maybe milimiter back, same time keeping right side as it is, the IMAGE GET’s CLEAR ON separately left and right. I believe I need a spacer what STUDIOFOAM Creative offers. There is a youtuber from Australia, he did 3Dprint his own wedges and put in bottom of both sides. An update regarding not sharp image in one eye. I did DIY a side spacer from velcro (similar as in Studiofoamcreative.com) and did insert it in between device frame and soft padding on bottom left side about 7cm long. That improved sharpness in left eye image. But now headset does not sit on my face symmetrical. Quite a strange feeling. If you wondered, the vision in my both eyes is symmetric and my face is fairly symmetric too LOL. Please let me know guys what you think

Sort this out using the manual IPD adjustment wheel on the left side of the headset (near where the cable comes in). That's what it's for, and get it sharp in both eyes for you. If you're sitting down, just turn of chaperone in the Pimax App for the device. I had issues with the room boundry as well, but since I am only using it for flight sim (and don't plan on simulating jumping out of the cockpit ) I just disabled this to get around the problem. Doesn't hurt to have a bit of spacing between the lens and your eye. The downside is that it reduces the FOV slightly, but the upside is that it's easier on the eyes, and you don't have to clean the glass as much from oil from your eyelashes. 2
